Since 2004, the city of Harelbeke organizes every three years its International Composition Competition, an internationally renowned contest that offers a stepping stone to  incredible new work for symphonic wind bands. Ever since the inception of this event, Vooruit has the honor of playing the final concert. From more that one hundred submissions, the jury selected three finalist works of which the world premiere will be played by Vooruit on 30 June 2019. This year, the finalists are: 'Lifeboat Variations' by David Avshamolov (USA), 'L'attimo Fulgente' by Girolamo Deraco (Italy) and 'The Cosmic Picture Book' by Mark Grandison (Australia).
